Costa Rica

I spent four months in Costa Rica in 2008, volunteering at a sustainable living center called, Rancho Mastatal.  While there, I taught Music and English to the elementary school children and worked on various natural-building and furniture projects, including cobb walls, a manure floor, and a mortis and tenon bed. My jobs also included: figuring out how to hand-pollinate the vanilla (see photo), creating a map of the garden, maintaining composting toilets, and preparing meals for volunteers and guests at the ranch.
